Men- Resilience in Retirement

Your Mind, Body, and Environment

In our society, retirement can bring an identity problem, particularly for guys. Many people in the thick of their careers see it as a wonderful time when we finally get to lay down our burdens and enjoy the “golden years”. This view can be less than helpful when we deal with the reality of this major life change. In this course, discussion will focus on the challenges and changes in retirement. There is a lot to navigate.

When we finally get to retirement, we are faced with a tidal wave of conflicting information and opinion (as well as marketing) about how to adapt to changes in schedule, status, fitness level, self-image and physical and emotional health.  How do we navigate all this?
This course will offer information about the most reliable and current research on many topics around aging in an attempt to give a balanced and accurate view of the changes we all face in our later years.  It will also provide a forum to share experience and knowledge in order to help each of us find our own path to making the most of this phase of our life.

Participants will work through readings, videos and podcast episodes, to talk about issues in groups large and small, and to share their thoughts and ideas.
