Many people are finding the current controversy over LBGTQ2 rights puzzling. Whether it be medical interventions, school curriculum, or changing established pronouns, it is confusing to those of us who grew up in a world in which these things seemed to be indisputable.
This thought-provoking course will look at our current knowledge about genes, gender, and sexuality and why we may have to rethink what we learned in school.
ABOUT JEAN
In 2000, my father’s diagnosis of Vascular Dementia was the trigger that led me into looking closely at how the brain ages. Most of my career in Education had been spent focusing on how children and adolescents grow brain as they develop. To watch the reverse process taking place began a new journey for me. I have spent the last number of years learning from published papers and observing my own aging processes, how we age, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have also worked as part of various research projects, most recently, the SuperAgers study out of the Universities of Chicago and Western. Now in my 87th year, I am happy to share what I have learned.
